Shaping Vision

Lead By: Tarun Wassan

Many students suffer due to vision impairment simply because they do not have access to an eye examiner or a pair of glasses they essentially need. This is one of the severe problems faced by students, especially in rural areas where such issues are left unsolved and eventually create unwanted obstacles in their career path.
Vision is one of the primary senses students use as they learn. From mathematical calculations to reading & writing, an undiagnosed eye disability can impede a student’s performance in each and every learning activity. It’s important for them to have a proper solution to overcome vision difficulties before it’s too late.
Identifying this factor, the Dharamshala Shapers Community has launched a welfare program – Shape Vision, to help the needy students. Joining hands with few eye specialists as well as eyewear manufacturers, our aim is to support the needy students with a better vision for their all-round development.
Shape Vision organizes free eye examination camps and provides spectacles to visually challenged students. Visiting various under-developed schools around Dharamshala, we identify such students from low-income families and provide them with suitable glasses. Our activities also include awareness about eye exercises, vegetables that help improving vision, how to avoid eye strains while reading or watching TV, and etc.
Recently, the Shape Vision Team visited Surya Uday Charitable Trust where more than 50 kids participated for their eyesight checkup. Free glasses were provided to them along with eye medicines and awareness seminars.
